Madrid Design Festival 2023: L’Atelier Óptica and Jorge Velasco Perez present “Terraluz, village of color”.

It’s not news: at L’Atelier Óptica we love art and design. And if there is an important date that allows us to enjoy these two great passions of ours that is, without a doubt, the Madrid Design Festival, the international Festival that every year turns the city into the international capital of design. Exhibitions, workshops, meetings, conferences… and many more activities will take place from February 7 to April 9 in different parts of the city as well as in Seville, a city invited to co-participate this year.

Although the main venue for the activities will be the Fernán Gómez Centro Cultural de la Villa, emblematic spaces such as the Cerralbo Museum, the National Museum of Decorative Arts, Matadero, Caixa Forum or the Palace of Santa Barbara, will host exhibitions and various events of the MDF 2023. All these spaces… And us!

That’s right, L’Atelier Óptica joins this design event by completely renewing our showcase with the exhibition Terraluz, village of color, by the Madrilenian artist Jorge Velasco Perez.

This composition evokes a Mediterranean village, cheerful and fresh, with the friendliness of its neighbors and the harmony of the environment always present.

The soul of this village resides in the small colored crystals made from the wast of chromatic lamps manufacturing, that fill the place with energy and color. On top of that, this village has new visitors: our glasses.

Terraluz is a Jorge Verlasco Perez’s creation, a graduate in Product Design from the Escuela Superior de Diseño. He knows how to understand the world with a very particular vision, which he express in his work. His methodology lies in experimentation with the materials and the creative process, combining traditional and modern techniques to develop sustainable projects. It has been an honor for us to work with him.

We look forward to you seeing and enjoying this installation!
