At L’Atelier Ópticas, we continue to invest in the fusion of fashion and luxury optics. In this edition of Madrid Fashion Week, we had the pleasure of once again collaborating with designer Daniel Chong, who chose our most exclusive glasses to complete the concept of his runway show.
The show took place on February 14th at 18:30 at the magnificent Palacio de Fernán Núñez, a perfect venue to showcase the creativity and sophistication that characterize both Daniel Chong and L’Atelier Ópticas. In this edition, the glasses from our boutique became essential pieces to highlight the designer’s avant-garde aesthetic, creating a very special proposal.
The selection of glasses for the show includes models from brands like Peter and May, Cutler and Gross, Mykita, Lunor, Nina Mur, Alhem, Ophy, and Jean Philippe Joly (view all brands). These models stand out for their innovative design, sustainable materials of the highest quality, and details that reflect elegance and a 100% contemporary style. Each of these pieces was carefully chosen to complement Chong’s new proposal, which this time is envisioned as a journey in which the garments reflect the fragility of the human being, their dreams, and a rebellion against the unreachable societal standards of behavior.

We had an interview with Daniel to get to know his projects and inspiration up close
What does it mean to you to be part of Madrid Fashion Week?
Being part of fashion week is a dream come true, especially in Madrid, a city I have an immense affection for, which has allowed me to grow and fall in love with my work. During this week, the city breathes fashion, and being a part of it is an exciting boost in my career as a designer.
How would you define your style as a designer and what inspires you when creating new collections?
I believe my style is completely urban and designed for everyday life. We do ready-to-wear because we believe fashion should be on the streets and should be close to people. I am inspired by raw materials and fabrics; I like to let the materials express themselves.
How has your aesthetic evolved over the years?
A lot. Over the years, I have found my own aesthetic. Of course, we started with fewer resources, which made creativity explode, and that’s why I enjoy what I do even more today, looking back at the growth and evolution.
What role do accessories, like glasses, play in creating a look?
Glasses are always a complement that reinforces our proposed look. Being in sync with accessories is key when elevating a look. I think we are the perfect match with L’Atelier Ópticas’ curated selection of glasses.
How important is the relationship between fashion and functionality in your pieces?
It’s very important to us and our philosophy that our proposals be comfortable and stylish. There are many ways to live fashion, and making it functional and practical is our main premise.
How do you experience your collaboration with L’Atelier Ópticas, and what attracts you to working with us?
We are attracted by the variety and quality of the glasses. They are premium pieces with so much design. We love seeing how they fit perfectly with our proposals and vice versa. We are always grateful to collaborate with you because you understand our concept very well.
How do you choose the accessories for your runway shows? What do you want to convey through them?
We choose pieces based on color or shape, always looking for that synergy that helps elevate our proposals. We aim to convey our entire creative universe.
How do you see the evolution of the fashion industry in the coming years?
That’s a tough question. We believe fast fashion is destroying designer fashion, but we also believe that our customers will always be with us as long as we continue to prioritize sustainability as a fundamental pillar.
Is there any trend that excites you particularly?
We are not very trend-driven. We believe more in the fact that our customers are currently looking for a personal style where clothing and accessories transmit joy and pride.
For young designers starting out, what advice would you give them on finding their voice in the fashion world?
A lot of perseverance. Well-done work always pays off, they need to be consistent and always have clear values.
What upcoming projects or surprises do you have in mind for the near future?
Our main project right now is scaling our business model and reaching more people who value products made in Spain. It’s hard work, but it can be done. We will continue to be part of the fashion industry and will keep bringing fresh, sustainable ideas to an already saturated market.
Do you have a piece from your own collection that you consider your favorite or that has special meaning to you?
I have several, but our “nubes” coat or our “fried eggs” sweater has me in love, and not to forget our iconic “book holder” backpack, which has brought us so much joy, and we continue to improve its design every day.
Do you wear glasses? What do you think about when choosing them? What do you want them to add to your style?
I look for glasses that give a sense of unity and strength. Glasses are very important in people’s daily lives, and often they make a statement of intent. How you start your day with the right pair of glasses is vital for your mood and your confidence to take on the world.
This collaboration is not the first time L’Atelier Ópticas has teamed up with Daniel Chong, a designer known for his unique and avant-garde style. Since we started this relationship, our goal has been to support emerging creativity and talent in fashion, always offering the best from our selection of glasses. We are proud to continue being part of this journey, where luxury optics and fashion come together to create something truly exceptional.
