LAPIMA is an exclusive eyewear, brand handcrafted glasses, designed and produced in Brazil that is captivating the world.
How was LAPIMA born, and what motivated you to create an eyewear brand with such a unique approach?
LAPIMA was born from a genuine desire to create something special. We have always been passionate about design and were looking for ways to combine art and functionality in an object that people could use in their daily lives. We realized that eyewear could go beyond being just an accessory and become a form of personal expression. That’s how the brand was born—with the idea of offering authentic products, created with dedication and attention to detail.

How would you describe LAPIMA’s DNA? What elements define your design style?
LAPIMA’s DNA is defined by movement and fluidity, reflecting our vision of beauty. Our designs explore sculptural forms that seem almost alive, combining lightness with visual impact. The fusion of organic curves with sharp lines is what defines our identity and expresses our pursuit of a unique and timeless aesthetic.
Materials are key in your designs. Why do you choose materials like acetate and buffalo horn, and how do they contribute to the brand’s identity?
We choose acetate and buffalo horn because both represent a balance of durability, quality, and elegance. Acetate allows us to create vibrant pieces with intense colors and refined textures, while buffalo horn, being a natural material, adds exclusivity and authenticity. These materials are the foundation of our identity and reinforce our commitment to creating unique products.

What is the creative process behind a new eyewear collection? How do you innovate without losing the essence of the brand?
LAPIMA’s creative process begins with the search for beauty in all its forms, especially in nature and the vibrant colors of Brazil. We love drawing inspiration from objects, works of art, dance companies, and the richness of the Brazilian landscape, full of contrasts and textures. These elements, combined with great dedication and care, are transformed into eyewear that reflects our essence. We always stay true to our aesthetics and to what we believe is beautiful, creating pieces that combine authenticity, innovation, and a deep connection to our roots.
In a market where trends are fleeting, how do you balance innovation with timelessness in your designs?
We believe that timelessness comes from creating something with soul and purpose. That’s why we don’t cling to fleeting trends, but we always remain attentive to what inspires us. Our focus is on designing pieces that combine striking forms with subtle elegance, allowing our eyewear to remain relevant today and in the future. This balance guides us and allows us to maintain innovative and enduring designs.
How do you think eyewear can be considered a form of artistic expression? What role does eyewear design play as a medium for personal expression?
Eyewear plays a central role in a person’s image, as the face and eyes are the first things we notice. They are not just functional but also a powerful form of personal expression, capable of transforming how we see ourselves and how others perceive us. At LAPIMA, we see each design as a small work of art, created to complement the individuality of the wearer. Eyewear tells stories, reflects personality, and adds a touch of beauty and confidence that goes beyond the visual.

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important in the design industry. What sustainable practices do you follow at LAPIMA in eyewear production, and how do you integrate environmental responsibility into your creative process?
Our designs are made to be timeless and durable, created to transcend generations and celebrate the union between beauty and functionality. We produce on demand, avoiding excess stock and reducing waste. Additionally, we recycle the acetate used in the production process and incorporate biodegradable plastic into some components, reaffirming our commitment to more responsible practices.
Another aspect we take pride in is our school of artisans. We train eyewear specialists, preserving the art of craftsmanship with excellence while promoting continuous learning and valuing local talent. For us, sustainability is more than a concept—it’s a way of caring for the environment, people, and the legacy we want to leave for the future.
What can we expect from LAPIMA in the future? What new projects or directions are you exploring?
The future of LAPIMA lies in bringing more beauty to the world and deepening the unique lifestyle that the brand represents. LAPIMA goes beyond eyewear—it reflects a way of seeing and living in the world, valuing design, art, and the emotions that transform the everyday into something extraordinary.
We want to explore this universe even further, creating new ways to translate our essence and our vision of beauty, always maintaining the authenticity that defines us.
